Abstract

In many (agent-based) simulations the programmers purport to model elements of human society. These models are often based on the researchers' understanding of and focus on specific elements of this society. We suggest that using a frame work that is used in social and political science (the Institutional Analysis and Development framework) will greatly improve the design, comparison and validation of artificial societies. We apply this approach dubbed MAIA to a pre-existing model of consumer lighting.
